The mechanism that works the puppet is a wooden dowel with 4 wooden arms that can slide back & forth.  There are 11 points where it is connected with a sturdy cord of hemp fiber; two for the head, two at the shoulders one at the lower back, one on each hip, two for the hands and one at each knee.
